It was not my day obviously! I'm glad that today has started a little better than Monday did. But I was beginning to think I was in some alternate universe with the way things were heading downhill fast...
Monday started with all chicks gone, 1 more hen is gone, 1 dog is about to be gone-he is chained to the tree until further measures can be taken to insure that his big black lab butt is well contained behind a fence again since our electric fence is broken...most likely thanks to the neighbor next door and his idea that no matter how many times his lawnmower gets stuck in the ditch between our yards, since the thing stays wet all the time due to his broken pipe line which he has still not fixed in a year, he is still going to try the mower again another day in the ditch just in case it's dry! Well guess what? It's not going to dry up you goon, until the pipe is fixed and this time my fence went out very soon after your last mower-stuck maneuver since you actually rode it up into our yard and created yet another hole... OK, rant over.
Progressing on in the day...my decision to do any school with the kids was thrown out the window after dealing with the mornings issues thus far and it was a good idea. I decided I needed to make the call to the appliance store about the lack of a dairy door on the fridge's dairy compartment. I called, was put on hold and then she came back and let me know that the model we had does not come with one...WHAT? I said your kidding me right? Nope...I 'needed to call the parts people and order one'. Um....ok. So I called them and guess what? "Mam, that model doesn't even have a part number to order for the dairy door". "This is ridiculous", I say, "So your telling me that the fridge is made with the shelf, has the little prongs to hold the flippy little door, but no door comes with or is made to order for it. Well who's bright idea was that?! It makes the shelf useless since the stuff up there falls off every time you open or close the door!". By now I'm sure the guy is wishing he hadn't picked up the phone. I ask for the number for the actual company that makes my fridge.
By this time...I'm pretty much wishing that I hadn't even gotten off that couch this morning!
I call the company...I explain my situation with the door on the fridge and inform her that I have three of their units here in my home...that I like them, but if she can't find me a door for the dairy compartment, that I'm returning the two newest ones after I hung up with her....I so would have too! I was in that kind of mood...poor girl, she too probably wished she hadn't got my call! LOL!
So she sweetly asks for some info: 'Could I get the model and serial number please'. She does indeed see that my model doesn't come with the door...which makes me laugh out loud at this point. I mean come on, this fridge comes with an ice maker, has the water and ice dispenser on the front and even has a filtration system on the water line that I have to change every 6 months, but it doesn't have a simple dairy door for the dairy shelf?! I ask her if this sounds entirely absurd. She agrees that it does. I told her that someone must have left their common sense at home the day they came in and thought up this refrigerator to sell...
She does look for a comparable model to mine and offers to order the dairy door for that model and that it should fit. We will see and I thanked her.
Let me tell you, if this doesn't fit, I plan on calling someone higher up in that company, as far as I need to, and giving them a tidbit of advice on their product designer. Then I plan on returning the darn thing. Good Grief...how complicated can all this be?
So moving on...I hung out around the house. Took a ride with my neighbor down the road on our horses. That was nice, even laughed when we saw the buzzard on a tree like 10 feet away from us. Those things are just hideous looking...poor birds. Of course we were a bit surprised (um...and our horses were really surprised!) after it suddenly flew off the tree. My horse went sideways; her horse shot off forward. Neither went very far, but it sure woke them up!
I got back to find home so that I could get ready to head out to the soccer field for practice. I didn't see the kids...asked hubby where they were...outside he says...um, nope. They had went off to the neighbors to the back pond to feed the fish. They were in trouble for not asking. Steve was in trouble for not watching! They came back, got ready, and left a little late for the field-I hate being late. Finished my teams practice and went to see Britney at hers. I was talking to another homeschooling mom there about our day so far when one of the moms walked up. I didn't want to seem rude and not say hello, so I did, and continued where I left off with the other mom. The new mom just kind of looked at me and you know you can tell that look...like the person is looking down on you like your not as 'good' as they are...whatever. So talk turned to the LSU soccer game from Friday night and how much fun the girls had. The houghty-toughty mom, said that she didn't even tell her daughter about it because 'she's too tired to go anywhere on Fridays'. I laughed a little and told her that I know what she means...I homeschool my kids and run a farm that at the end of the day I'm pooped, but that my girl was so excited about it and I'm glad I took her.' Well I guess I offended her or something-probably not though because those people look down on people like me, but she sort of made this noise, turned and looked at the three parents at my left...and you know when people are giving that look to others-like your weird or something...you see the others look towards you and their faces go a little slack as they look back like they agree....nice huh! Well whatever... I told the mom that now I know another reason why I like animals more than some people. She laughed and said that I now have three things stacked against me: 1. Homeschooler 2. Mormon 3. Farmer! We just laughed.
Well I get home. Steve greets me and says he's gonna take me to dinner! I'm sure he was hungry, knew I wasn't remotely going near the kitchen that night and didn't want to cook himself! LOL. We went to our local restaurant. I was looking forward to getting one of the specials and wanted some butter beans on the side. I love their butter beans, I hardly make them at home since it's really just me that likes them. J will sometimes eat them. Well the waitress comes out and 'hates to inform me that they are just fresh out of butter beans, she is so sorry, and would I like anything else..the corn perhaps?' Um, no, I really wanted the butter beans...shoot. So I got steamed veggies. Oh, well...
Bed time couldn't come fast enough!
