Playing Downtown...

We headed of to town to do some bike riding along a trail I found out about that runs along the Mississippi. The river has been very high. All those trees to the right of the picture below are normally well away from the river.
The Three Musketeers!
There is a water fountain in the sidewalk downtown. Kids can be seen playing in it from time to time. Our kids love it. The water is just cold enough to be refreshing on a hot summer day with the breeze blowing off the river.

LOL...this was funny. He sat on a sprayer...so here's before:
And after...what I missed next was the jumping up part and him very surprised that water went wooshing so quickly up his backside, lol!
Tall Girl may be tall but those jets shoot the water quite high at times.

Launching Magnolia leaves down the waterfall...

Rolling down a very large hill at the Old State Capitol during our picnic.

We rode the trolley at the end of the day...It was a lot of fun.

Our GSD...

Most people that are familiar with our family will tell you that we just love pets...we have quite a few too. We each own a dog (well that's not true, I have two, lol) and all are rescues. Hunter is one that our daughter picked out from a rescue in TX. He is such a goofball. He loves the trampoline, running around with the feed bowls hanging from his mouth, he'll chase balls or sticks, he loves peeing on our car tires (we hate it, but we can't seem to make that clear to him), enjoys antagonizing our other dogs or the farm animals behind the other side of the fence...he is mostly quiet, but can sing like a husky when he wants to. He likes to put his feet in the water buckets and he'll paw at the water splashing it all over himself. He's even been seen trying to bite at it!

We like taking him places with us. He's always quiet and watchful.
He of course couldn't resist the water. I don't know if he saw a fish or what, but this is what he does at home in the water buckets...

Look close and you'll see a good bit of water running from his mouth.
Goofy dog looks like he'd drown!

City Park Lakes...

We spent the afternoon having a picnic out at the lakes. It was a gorgeous day! If everyday could only be like today...This crazy pigeon was chasing all the girlie pigeons around. He was seriously trying to impress anyone that would look at him. We were cracking up at him. There was a female duck that wanted to join in on our picnic. She was so very polite that of course we welcomed her and shared our lunch.
Feeding the many species of ducks and birds out there.

Steve's fav picture that he took.
One of my fav's that I took.
Tall Girl enjoying the water.
We played a little soccer and almost lost the ball to the lake a couple of times! Little Man loves to practice his head shots, but they make your head hurt after a while!

All of us. You can tell it was a little windy out when you look at our hair.

Me and my Honey.

Help! We're melting!

It sure feels like it. It has ranged in the upper 102's here with the humidity just laying like a thick winter quilt on you. Late July and all of August are the most miserable months here in Louisiana. We hardly go outside from 10 am to 4pm! A walk to the mailbox brings on sweat where sweat is quite unwelcome! EWWWWW....

The pool is still down and we hope to have it up this weekend. The neighbors want to get dirt for their barn this week (unless Hurricane Dean dumps too much water in the next few days) and we're going to split the cost of the Bobcat. Works for both of us that way, so I hope Dean just passes himself on by. As much as the rain is needed, it just brings on more humidity...a double-edged sword really.

Yesterday evening the kids decided to cool off the way they used to before we had the pool, using the trampoline with the sprinkler underneath. Have you ever tried jumping on a wet trampoline? Man that's a workout! The mat gets so heavy.

So here they are having fun, though they still didn't stay out very long. Apparently it's even "too hot" to jump on a wet trampoline with the sprinkler going!

I love the shot of Little Man though. He is always asking Dad to 'cannonball' him. They both jump and then fall. If Little Man lands just right, he rockets back up to heights that sometimes scare me! He thinks it's great and just laughs hysterically! Drama Queen proceeded to do the front flips and toe touches. I got some great pics of those!
