Horray for some days of rain, but if it would keep gone this week (or atleast in the evening) I'd be glad and so would all the soccer kids that are excited to be attending camp this week. This includes my daughter. Little Man doesn't want to now, but true to form, he'll want to once he sees the other kids there. Tall Girl is so rediculously skinny that I've started making her nutritional milkshakes to drink each day. She eats like a bird most days (with soccer season coming on that won't last long).
School is almost over. We've got three weeks to finish four weeks! We are doubling up this week, doing weeks 33 and 34 in 5 days. The kids finished in record time today and with a great attitude to boot. They are glad to be finishing up and heading out on vacation for the next two weeks. We plan on seeing the Arch in St. Louis and probably riding the riverboat since they both have historic info on the time period around the 1800's which is where we've ended in our studies this year. Then it's on to historic Nauvoo where we'll sleep in a restored 1700's cabin and see bricks made, gunsmithing, shoe making, blacksmithing, bakeries, the temple, etc. I can't wait for that.
After our visit there, we'll head over to Cleveland to visit family and a few museums while we are there. It will be nice seeing everyone. We haven't been in a few years and they'll be surprised to see how big the kids have gotten! From there we'll head back home with a couple of stops on the way. It's going to be fun!
One place I'm wanting to stop if it doesn't rain too much is Squire Boone Caverns. The kids love cave formations. We've seen parts of Mammoth Cave in Kentucky and plan to do more. This one is supposed to be really neat.
Time to get dinner going....I have no idea what, but I'm sure with all the food storage I have, I can come up with something!

Recovery....recovery...
I do not like recovery! It's no fun not being able to do things you used to because you get too tired or you aren't allowed to yet...a trip to town yesterday wore me out and I've never been a nap person so I'm having a hard time taking a nap in the middle of the day. I am however attempting to atleast lay in the bed and rest-which is what I'm doing now only I've got the laptop with me, lol.
I was supposed to go see my doc yesterday for my 2 week checkup. I was very excited about this because in my little surgery booklet, it said that I could be released for driving around this time for very short trips only. I arrive at the office to find that 1-the doc is not in, 2-I was not called and informed of this because someone forgot to add my appointment timet to the list that day and 3-he doesn't normally release patients for driving until 4-5 weeks after surgery! Seriously?! Yes, she was serious. I was very disappointed about all of it...
Soooooo....this now puts a damper on things around here. The kids have some activities scheduled and Steve has to go back to work...I have some friends that I can call to arrange some rides though and I'm fortunate to have them!
We think Steve's truck has a fuel pump issue. His truck is barely 2 years old. The dealership will be getting a call about this. There is no reason for that to be malfunctioning yet. He (reluctantly) is having to drive my girlie banged up rig to work instead, lol!
The kids are doing great. Trying to finish up the last weeks of school. They are of course fussing about schooling over the summer, but as I explained to them, would they rather sit inside when it's beautiful in the fall and spring and school, or sit inside during the extreme heat of summer and school...they don't like to be outside then and would be bored to death with 'nothing to do all day'! LOL They did agree that our way is much nicer. We will be finished before we head to Ohio to visit family at the end of August. We will have to double up on two separate weeks, but we'll be done and won't have to worry about school until we come back. It will be so nice!

Hey everyone....
It's been super busy around here lately...tax time, soccer games, practices, piano, farm stuff, finishing out the steer calf to ready next week for the butchers, clothes shopping for Tall Girl as she has no decent shorts to wear, cleaning and redoing Jacob's room-plus restacking his beds to make bunkbeds, doc appointments, trying to keep Sophie from jumping the 5 foot fence...which she does regularly now, but has yet to figure out how to get her goofy self back over, LOL...school, church, training the pony and it's child rider, and generally going non stop, LOL!
I am planning a trip to Florida to visit my mom and siblings. One of my brothers is getting married soon and so wedding shopping is on the agenda. Mom wants to go to Sea World too! This is a birthday trip for me...it will be nice for me to get away for a little while and relax without the kids and hubby needing my attention...it's very overdue...my mom lives right off the beach. I love laying on the beach...listening to the waves and it's not summer yet, so the beach won't be crowded (atleast until the weekend).
I'll be heading back down in September for another visit for the wedding-with the kids this time though. Steve has shutdown at the plant so he won't be able to go. He's not as into traveling as we are though so it doesn't bother him too bad, lol.
Unfortunately his niece is getting married in October and he won't be able to attend that one either. They'll still be in shutdown mode at the plant...
That is what has been going on in a nutshell. Oh, my boys soccer team is still winning. These kids rock. I hear other coaches...they hollar at their kids, needing to tell them what to do and where to be...I got lucky. I think I've trained the kids to actually think on the field and not need me. I say things here and there reminding them to remember what we practice, or to give a "great job guys", but other than that, they just play...and they do it pretty well!

A few pics for you Mom...
I hung our bedroom curtains last night...I have been looking for a set that I liked and we all know how difficult that can be. I found some and bought them last week with a rod set as well. I hate putting up those rods...this one was even more aggravating. You can't ever get those silly plastic drywall anchors in the wall, but luckily the screws were long enough that they were anchored into some wood or something in there because they were a pain to screw/drill in the last 3/4 of an inch!
Oh and this watercolor painting is hanging above my bed. It was a wedding present from our Austrian exchange student-who is like a brother now, he's been over here so much. This was a view I enjoyed seeing when I visited him at his home for a month before I graduated high school. It was amazing there! I recently had it rematted and framed...I'm glad I did. I never really liked the old framing I had done on it...actually it was hideous! I wish I could get a better closeup of it...the detail is amazing.
The poor curtains need to hand a little while and relax some before I can really rearrange them...yeah I probably should have ironed them out a bit, but at 11 pm when one is finally through with the rod placement, one has a tendency to just want the stinking curtains up there and off the bed so she can go to bed herself!
So here they are along with the quilt I bought last year. Oh and Steve actually likes these! But then I have told him many times that florals and stripes are nice together (we had this same discussion when looking at couch fabrics earlier this year).

Traveling the globe...
I found this site: http://sixintheworld.com/ earlier this year. I delved right in and started reading about the things this family has done and seen during their year of traveling the globe.
They are a LDS homeschooling family of six, who took the year off to do some round the world traveling. They have met many people, learned many things, taught others, had some funny and not so funny bumps along the way, and seemed to really have a wonderful time. They took some incredible pictures and shared some wonderful experiences.
I hope to be able to take the kids to some countries before they leave home. We are studying world history more in depth in a couple of years and I'm hoping we can take them overseas then. We do love to travel, but of course with a farm, leaving takes a little preplanning with our neighbor-who is just a wonderful friend!
Some countries/continents I'd like to see:
